Norway, other European nations vow to boycott Ice Hockey World Championship if Russia returns
Norway and several European nations announced they will not compete against Russia in the 2027 Ice Hockey World Championship following a CAS ruling that allows Russian teams to return. The tournament is set for May 2027 in Germany, but the IIHF has yet to finalize Russia's participation. Norway's ice hockey association confirmed their stance, with Sweden, Denmark, and Finland expressing similar views. Germany's ice hockey association also rejected Russia's return. The CAS ruling overturned the IIHF's ban on Russian teams, which had been imposed after Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. Ukraine has urged nations to enforce travel bans on Russian athletes to prevent their participation in international events.
