New two euro fee on orders from outside the EU is now in effect
A new two-euro fee on orders from outside the EU is now in effect, aimed at mitigating the impact of non-EU products on the European market. This fee applies to all orders regardless of value and is categorized by item type. For example, ordering five t-shirts incurs only one fee, while orders with items from different categories will incur multiple fees. This fee is in addition to a three-euro tariff introduced in July for orders under 150 euros, which will be phased out by 2028. The EU emphasizes that platforms should absorb this cost, although there are no measures to prevent them from passing it on to consumers. The fee aims to help customs authorities manage the influx of approximately five million daily orders, primarily from Chinese platforms, ensuring compliance with EU regulations.
