New rules for taxi fares come into effect today, but taximeters will be adapted until January
New taxi fare regulations come into effect today, featuring a lower starting fare and variable rates based on time and distance, with potential increases during holidays. While the regulations were initially published in June, they were suspended for 60 days for associations to propose adjustments. The final version, effective from October 23, allows until January 2027 for taximeters to be updated. The AMT consulted industry associations before finalizing the rules, which aim to simplify pricing and enhance transparency. Specific local fare adjustments can still be made by transport authorities.
