Nine since October. Portugal recorded 19 cases of measles this year

Portugal has reported 19 measles cases this year, with nine identified in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo since October 6. None of the patients are currently hospitalized, and all who required hospitalization have been discharged. Among the recent cases, three are imported and unvaccinated, linked to recent travel to high-incidence countries. The remaining six cases are secondary, stemming from the imported cases. The Directorate-General of Health (DGS) emphasizes the importance of vaccination and monitoring contacts for early detection of symptoms. Vaccination coverage is crucial for protecting vulnerable populations, and the DGS encourages individuals to check their vaccination status and get vaccinated if necessary.
