New book with texts from the main protagonists tells the story of the path to "true Democracy"
A new book titled "25 de Novembro de 1975 50 anos depois" explores Portugal's path to true democracy following the events of November 25, 1975. Coordinated by Alípio Tomé Pinto and João Vieira Borges, it features texts from key figures involved in the military operation that thwarted a leftist coup. The book reflects on the significance of this date in relation to the April Revolution's goals, leading to democratic elections in 1976. Borges, who was 13 during the coup attempt, shares insights on the military's role in restoring order and discipline. The publication includes a foreword by former President António Ramalho Eanes and highlights the political turmoil of early 1975, including a failed coup attempt by António de Spínola.
