New discovery in the universe. There may be another dwarf planet orbiting the Sun beyond Pluto.
Astronomers have discovered a potential new dwarf planet, designated 2026 ED138, beyond Pluto's orbit. This icy body, located approximately 46 times farther from the Sun than Earth, has an estimated diameter of 600 to 1500 kilometers. Confirmation of its status as a dwarf planet requires further observations. The discovery was made using the Very C. Rubin Observatory in Chile, a collaboration between the U.S. National Science Foundation and the Department of Energy. If confirmed, 2026 ED138 would join five other recognized dwarf planets, including Pluto and Eris. Astrophysicist Matt Holman, who first identified the object, anticipates more exciting discoveries from this observatory.
