New tranche of the SAFE program. 21 billion euros for armaments awaits interested parties

The unused funds from the first allocation of the SAFE program, totaling 150 billion euros, will be available for a second round of loans open to all EU countries. Poland received the largest share of 43.7 billion euros, while Italy and Hungary reduced their requests. The European Commission aims to utilize the entire 21.3 billion euros available in this new round, without conditions tied to support for Ukraine. The SAFE program is designed to enhance EU defense spending and support the defense industry, with Poland yet to decide on its participation in this round. Poland plans to submit a request for over 6 billion euros from the first round soon, having already received a 6.5 billion euro advance.
