New chips from Europe, billions for the energy-intensive industry and a WIG record

The European Commission approved €319 million in state aid for Infineon Technologies to modernize its semiconductor plant in Austria. This investment aims to establish the world's first mass production facility for gallium nitride power chips on 300 mm wafers, which could significantly impact the electric vehicle market. Poland is also positioned to benefit from advancements in gallium nitride technology. Additionally, the Polish energy-intensive industry will receive nearly PLN 2.2 billion in compensation for high energy prices, with a new support program planned for 2027-2030. The Polish government is also backing investments in the defense sector, with nearly PLN 400 million allocated to three companies within the Polish Armaments Group. The Warsaw Stock Exchange saw record highs, driven by positive investor sentiment, particularly in the banking sector.
