The new canon of readings may surprise. The Ministry of Education is working on changes

On October 22, the Educational Research Institute published proposals for core curricula for general education in high schools and technical schools. Over 200 experts contributed to these proposals, which will undergo reviews before being submitted to the Ministry of Education. The new curriculum aims to prepare students for responsible participation in society and the job market, emphasizing cultural respect. Starting September 1, 2027, changes will include a revised Polish language curriculum with a focus on contemporary literature. A list of 287 recommended texts for discussion has been prepared, including works addressing climate change and social issues. The reform is part of a broader educational overhaul set to culminate in new exams in 2031.
