The new president of Krakow wants to suspend the partnership with Lviv. The reason is to honor the UPA.

The new president of Krakow, Łukasz Gibała, proposed a temporary suspension of the partnership with Lviv due to the latter's decision to commemorate the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA) in 2027. Gibała emphasized that this proposal is not a permanent termination but a response to the glorification of figures associated with historical atrocities against Poles. He acknowledged Ukraine's victimhood in the face of Russian aggression while insisting that relations must be based on historical reconciliation. The partnership between Krakow and Lviv has lasted over 30 years, established in 1995, and Gibała's administration is preparing a formal proposal for the city council.
