New nature reserve Zastudnie in Jura. Will climbers lose access to the rocks?
The Zastudnie Nature Reserve has been established in Janów municipality, covering 58.05 hectares of beech forests and limestone rocks. It is the 72nd nature reserve in Silesia, located in the picturesque Kraków-Częstochowa Jura, within the Eagle Nests Landscape Park and the Natura 2000 Złotopotocka Refuge area. The reserve aims to protect unique forest and rock communities, including various beech forest types and rare plant species on limestone cliffs. The area attracts outdoor enthusiasts, and authorities have created designated trails for hikers and cyclists while coordinating climbing regulations with the Polish Mountaineering Association. Climbing is allowed on specific rocks, but new safety points cannot be installed, and climbing on rock summits is prohibited to protect sensitive vegetation.
