NPO had not yet selected a Eurovision artist when the Netherlands withdrew from participation

The NPO announced that the Netherlands will not participate in the upcoming Eurovision Song Contest due to a lack of support from public broadcasters. Despite speculation about artists like Davina Michelle, the search for a representative was paused. The NPO had initially expressed intentions to participate, but no broadcasters were willing to contribute experts for the artist's support team. NPO's board chair, Jet de Ranitz, stated that while initial discussions were positive, the situation changed, leading to the decision to withdraw. The NPO emphasized that they are open to participating in 2028 if circumstances change. The Eurovision Song Contest 2027 will still be broadcast by the NPO, with coverage provided by NOS.
