Number 6? Astronomers discover possible new dwarf planet in our solar system
Astronomers have potentially discovered a new dwarf planet in our solar system, designated 2026 ED138. This celestial body is among the largest and brightest objects orbiting beyond Pluto, as reported by the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. The discovery was made by Matthew Holman from the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, who utilized a self-developed algorithm to analyze data collected by the observatory. ED138 is located approximately 46 astronomical units from the sun, with an estimated diameter between 600 and 1,500 kilometers. Currently, there are five officially recognized dwarf planets by the IAU, with the last recognition occurring in 2008.
