The NAV is investigating the Southern Circular Railway case, Mészáros's company won the 338 billion contract
The Hungarian National Tax and Customs Administration (NAV) has launched an investigation into the Southern Railway project due to suspected budget fraud. The largest contract for the project was awarded to Mészáros Lőrinc's company, V-Híd, which the government announced it would terminate. The investigation follows a complaint from the Ministry of Transport regarding potential conflicts of interest in the procurement process. The European Court of Auditors had previously identified issues with the involvement of Kontúr Group in both the client and contractor roles. The government fears that over 320 billion HUF in EU funding could be jeopardized. V-Híd has not yet commented on the situation, while the Competition Authority has also begun its own investigation.
