The police are investigating the billion-dollar real estate purchases of the chamber of commerce
The Budapest Police are investigating the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MKIK) for suspected mismanagement related to real estate purchases totaling approximately 9.2 billion HUF. The MKIK acquired three properties, including a central headquarters and an educational facility, with significant financial scrutiny over the transactions. Concerns were raised about the seller, TP Property Zrt., which had recently acquired the properties before selling them to the chambers. MKIK's president, Nagy Elek, defends the purchases as lawful and beneficial, asserting that all decisions were approved by the board. He anticipates stepping down from his position following the adoption of a new chamber law.
