The 150th anniversary of the apparitions of the Virgin Mary in Gietrzwałd will be celebrated on September 12, 2027, under the honorary patronage of President Karol Nawrocki. The event is highlighted for its spiritual, historical, and national significance, reflecting Polish faith and community strength. The apparitions, reported by two girls in 1877, played a crucial role in fostering Marian devotion and Polish identity during Prussian rule. Nawrocki previously emphasized their importance during the 148th anniversary celebrations, linking them to Polish patriotism and Catholicism. Grzegorz Braun's documentary connects the apparitions to the geopolitical tensions of the late 19th century, suggesting they may have prevented a larger conflict.
