Pichai reportedly declined the request, stating that oceans are complex due to their borders with multiple countries. Trump suggested that the Pacific Ocean could be renamed "American Ocean." He also mentioned previous geographical name changes he promoted, including the Gulf of Mexico to American Gulf. Google has not confirmed the conversation, and the response attributed to Pichai comes solely from Trump's account. Trump's administration has previously altered official names, including changing Lake Ontario to American Lake on U.S. maps.
