OCMW Ghent closely monitors tenants with rental guarantees to avoid evictions

The OCMW in Ghent is intensifying its support for tenants who receive a rental guarantee, aiming to prevent evictions. They will contact tenants three months after moving in to assess their situation and provide assistance. With the addition of three new staff members, the OCMW hopes to reach 100 households annually and prevent around 30 evictions. This initiative focuses on helping new tenants manage initial costs and stabilize their living conditions. The project is part of the ROOF plan, which aims to eliminate structural homelessness by 2040.
