From multiple sclerosis to Alzheimer's disease. What needs to change in access to new therapies?
A report by the Polish Neurological Society highlights the increasing number of patients in neurological drug programs, with 55,000 treated in 2025. The report calls for the removal of financial limits and better organization of care, especially for patients transitioning from pediatric to adult care. Despite a budget of 2.2 billion PLN for neurological treatments, around 43 million PLN in services remain unpaid. Experts emphasize the need for systematic evaluation of treatment outcomes and the introduction of a new drug program for early Alzheimer's disease patients, following the approval of two anti-amyloid drugs in the EU.
