They found a memento of a Stutthof camp prisoner and contacted his family
In late August, a historical exploration group discovered a metal object near the former Stutthof concentration camp, inscribed with the name Aarne Kovala and a date linked to the camp's evacuation. The object, initially overlooked, was identified as a personal item from a Finnish sailor who survived the war and later emigrated to Canada. Researchers connected with Kovala's family, including his widow, who still honors his memory. The item was officially donated to the Stutthof Museum. The police involved in the discovery apply their historical exploration skills in their professional work, enhancing their investigative capabilities.
