Removal of the Constitutional Tribunal president without legal basis? Lawyers are divided

Judge Anna Korwin-Piotrowska has suspended the activities of Constitutional Tribunal judges Bogdan Święczkowski and Bartłomiej Sochański, citing legal violations that threaten the Tribunal's financial operations. She claims their actions hindered the participation of newly appointed judges in the General Assembly, preventing the approval of the Tribunal's budget for 2027. Legal experts question the legitimacy of her decision, arguing that only the General Assembly can suspend judges. The Minister of Justice has also filed five motions to lift the immunity of the suspended judges, alleging serious misconduct.
