The ousted president broke his silence. "I gave it my all"
Krzysztof Matyjaszczyk thanked residents for 16 years of service after being recalled in a referendum. He criticized the campaign as filled with hate speech but accepted the outcome respectfully. The referendum saw 97% voting for his removal and also led to the dismissal of the city council. Matyjaszczyk has faced corruption charges, claiming innocence and alleging he is a victim of slander. He has been suspended from his party membership pending investigation. His duties were taken over by his deputy during his absence from office.
