OE. Government speaks of a demanding year in fund execution
The Secretary of State for Planning highlighted the challenges Portugal faces in executing European funds, citing labor shortages and construction company availability. During a parliamentary hearing regarding the 2027 State Budget, Hélder Reis noted difficulties in meeting the n+3 rule, particularly in the Centro and Algarve regions. This rule requires justification of funds within three years to avoid losing them. The Minister of Economy acknowledged the increased demands of the n+3 rule under the Portugal 2030 program, which started over a year late. Efforts are being made to address delays in application reviews, although payment timelines remain problematic. The final vote on the 2027 budget is scheduled for November 24.
