OE2027. Government admits to reconciling the Circular Line of the Lisbon Metro with the Loop Line
The Lisbon Metro's Circular Line is set to open in early 2027, with the government considering a future connection to a Loop Line. The Secretary of State for Mobility, Cristina Pinto Dias, stated that transforming the Circular Line into a Loop Line would require an additional 18 months and €18 million in costs. The Circular Line will connect Rato to Cais do Sodré, adding two new stations and creating a circular route on the Green Line. Additionally, the expansion of the Red Line to Alcântara is ready for approval by the Court of Auditors, with plans for four new stations. The Violet Line project is currently stalled pending a decision from the European Commission regarding a previous investigation.
