OE2027: Lufthansa will cover any medications directly to enter TAP
The Secretary of State for Infrastructures, Hugo Espírito Santo, confirmed that Lufthansa will cover any regulatory remedies required by the European Commission for its acquisition of TAP. He emphasized that the buyer is responsible for these remedies but refrained from speculating on the Commission's conditions. The privatization deal, valued at €1.201 billion for a 49.9% stake, includes financial adjustments and a commitment to invest in new assets. Espírito Santo criticized a parliamentary inquiry regarding TAP's financial situation, highlighting its significant debt. Lufthansa's bid was selected over Air France-KLM, with the operation expected to finalize by early 2028, aiming for annual synergies of up to €450 million with TAP.
