Ukraine challenges Trump with new attack on Russian refinery

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak confirmed an attack by Ukraine on three refineries and a chemical plant, including the Novokuybyshevsk refinery. The Kremlin stated that Ukraine ignored a request from President Trump to spare Russian refineries. This marks Ukraine's first attack on a refinery since October 15, after a period of reduced attacks under U.S. pressure. Concerns arose among Ukraine's allies regarding tensions after restrictions on the Starlink satellite network affected drone operations. President Zelensky indicated that the military is being more cautious, but no formal pause in attacks was ordered. The recent attack may provoke Trump's anger, while Ukraine seeks additional air defense support in exchange for restraint on refinery strikes. Meanwhile, Russia has intensified attacks on civilian targets, resulting in casualties across Ukraine.
