Ókovács said he was never asked during the investigation of the Opera House.
Szilveszter Ókovács, the outgoing director of the Hungarian State Opera, stated he was never consulted during the audit that led to his dismissal by Minister Zoltán Tarr. He expressed frustration over not being contacted or acknowledged by the ministry, despite his attempts to communicate. The Ministry of Culture announced his termination, citing undisclosed findings from the audit, including claims that Ókovács raised his salary without approval. In the interim, Balázs Ivacs will assume the director's responsibilities until a new leader is appointed.
