David Vitézy promised it for October, but passenger traffic on the Budapest-Belgrade railway line has still not started.
David Vitézy had predicted the start of passenger traffic on the Budapest-Belgrade railway by mid-October, but it has not yet commenced. Although the necessary tests were completed successfully, the final adjustments are still pending. Vitézy remains optimistic, stating he has not heard of any issues preventing the launch. Freight trains began operating earlier this year, but passenger services are still awaiting completion of track adjustments, which are expected to take about two months. If all goes well, international traffic could start in December, with the line costing 800 billion HUF, largely funded by a Chinese loan.
