Residents near the Euromast have been hearing an 'irritating whistling sound' for months, cause unknown

Residents near the Euromast in Rotterdam have been complaining about persistent noise disturbances for months. The Rijnmond Environmental Service is investigating the issue, but no clear answers have emerged yet. Complaints have surged since June, with many attributing the noise to weather conditions. Initial theories suggested loose cables might be the cause, but after tightening them, the noise persisted even after the tower reopened in July. The sound, described as a loud screech, has worsened with autumn winds. The DCMR has identified that the noise originates from the upper part of the tower, but the exact cause remains unclear. A specialized engineering firm has been brought in to assist with the investigation, and DCMR acknowledges that some complaints may stem from other sources.
