UN condemns "all acts of violence" in protests across Europe
The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights condemned all acts of violence during recent protests across Europe, expressing concern over potential excessive force used against demonstrators. Volker Türk highlighted ongoing large-scale protests in Albania, Belgium, France, Italy, and Portugal, urging all parties to de-escalate tensions. He emphasized the right to peaceful assembly and called on states to facilitate this right. Türk strongly denounced those exploiting protests for violence and vandalism, insisting they must be held accountable individually.
