Also Butcher's Store in Hove hacked: "Hundreds of kilos of food for the trash"

Hackers attacked the cooling system of Butcher's Store in Hove, causing temperature rises in refrigeration units and resulting in the destruction of hundreds of kilograms of meat and fresh products. The cyberattack was detected early, allowing staff to limit damage and keep the store open. The hackers targeted the online registration system for temperature monitoring, not the cooling units themselves. Similar attacks have occurred in other Belgian supermarkets, leading to thawing issues. The store's owner, Luc De Laet, emphasized the importance of safety over salvaging food, opting for destruction to avoid potential health risks.
