At the site of the old Langerlo power plant in Genk, 106 Tesla batteries are ready: "Enough power for 40,000 households"
At the former Langerlo power plant site in Genk, 106 Tesla batteries have been installed for Storm's 100 MW battery park, set to balance the power grid by 2027. This €100 million project aims to supply electricity to around 40,000 households. The site, previously powered by coal and biomass, is being repurposed for renewable energy storage. Storm has partnered with Eneco for operational management, and the initiative is part of a broader investment in renewable energy infrastructure in Limburg. Flemish Environment Minister Jo Brouns emphasizes the importance of community support for such projects, highlighting the need for flexible energy solutions amid increasing renewable energy production fluctuations.
