Netflix has begun filming "Operação TAP," its first Portuguese film directed by João Nuno Pinto. The movie stars Rui Pedro Silva, Afonso Pimentel, and Victoria Guerra, and is inspired by the real-life hijacking of a TAP airplane in 1980. The plot follows a 16-year-old armed teenager who takes a plane to Madrid, demanding $10 million and turning passengers into hostages. The film aims to blend an 80s adventure vibe with modern pacing, exploring themes of empathy and humanity amidst tension. Produced by SPi, the screenplay is written by Pedro Lopes, Miguel Rico, and Marina Preguiça Ribeiro.
