Further delay for work on bicycle bridge in Heverlee: "Strong winds make meticulous work impossible"

The construction of the bicycle bridge over the E40 in Heverlee is postponed by at least one week due to predicted strong winds. Originally, the highway was to be closed for two weekends starting October 23 for the installation of cables and a mast. However, wind gusts of up to 80 km/h make precise work unsafe. The planning will be adjusted, and if weather permits, work may proceed the following weekend. This is not the first delay for the bridge, which was initially set to be completed earlier this year but faced setbacks due to custom parts. Final adjustments will depend on the measurements taken after the mast and cables are installed.
