Opwijk opposition wants extra glass containers during the end of the year: "Otherwise people will place their bottles next to them"

The opposition party Samen1745 in Opwijk is urging the municipality to install additional glass recycling bins during the year-end period to prevent glass from being placed next to existing containers. Council member Tom Bosman will present this proposal to the council this week. The demand arises from the significant increase in glass waste during the New Year celebrations, which leads to overflowing bins and unsafe conditions due to broken glass. The party suggests that if adding more bins is not feasible, increasing the frequency of emptying the existing bins could be an alternative, despite potential staffing challenges during the holiday season.
