The mayor of Orosháza reported his predecessor on suspicion of embezzlement

The mayor of Orosháza, János Raffai, has filed a report against his predecessor, Zoltán Dávid, on suspicion of mismanagement and abuse of office. The case involves a municipal service apartment granted to a doctor in 2017, who lost his service status in 2021. Raffai claims that Dávid encouraged the doctor to remain in the apartment. A debt of 5.5 million HUF has accumulated due to the apartment's usage, which the municipality is trying to recover through legal means. The Fidesz-KDNP party sought to settle this debt at a recent council meeting, citing a need for compassion towards the doctor. Raffai left the meeting, stating that the previous mayor acted without proper committee oversight. He emphasized his duty to protect municipal assets and clarify any irregularities regarding public property management.
