Allegations of gang rape. The university responds to Jane Doe's letter

In October 2024, seven members of the Chi Phi fraternity allegedly drugged and raped a 20-year-old student at Cornell University. Despite 57 young men reading about the incident in a group chat, none intervened. The victim, identified as Jane Doe, filed a lawsuit against the university and the fraternity last month. In a letter to university officials, she recounted a conversation with then-student association president, claiming that the university president questioned why the assault was reported late, which she interpreted as doubt about her story. Cornell officials disputed her account, stating the president's question referred to bystanders who did not use the university's anonymous reporting line. The university has faced protests and disciplinary actions against involved fraternity members, while the accused deny the allegations, claiming consent or disputing their involvement.
