Ouwehands says goodbye to panda Lang Yue: 'Always a little bit of ours'
This morning, Ouwehands Dierenpark in Rhenen bid farewell to 2-year-old panda Lang Yue, who is moving to China. Born in 2024, she is now ready for independence. Caretaker Brenda van Ekeren expressed mixed emotions about the departure, noting the successful training that allowed Lang Yue to enter her transport crate confidently. Local schoolchildren waved goodbye, wearing panda-themed hats. Lang Yue will join a breeding program in China to help sustain the giant panda population. Her parents, Wu Wen and Xing Ya, remain in Rhenen, where the zoo is the only one in the Netherlands housing giant pandas.
