Souvenir from the beach and ingredient in cosmetics cause trouble for passengers

Customs officers in Wrocław discovered four coral specimens from a passenger arriving from Egypt, which are protected under CITES. The passenger claimed to have found them on a beach in Hurghada but did not declare them or present the required export permit. Additionally, a passenger from Kazakhstan was found with a hair mask containing sturgeon caviar extract, also protected by CITES. The CITES convention regulates international trade in endangered species, including their parts and products. Authorities warn that transporting such items without proper permits can lead to confiscation, fines, or imprisonment for up to five years.
