Parliament postpones again elections for oversight of the "secret services" and Lusa Advisory Council

The Portuguese Parliament is postponing the elections for its representatives on the Council for the Oversight of the Information System and the Advisory Council of Lusa. The deadline for candidacies was not met, and the elections scheduled for the 28th will need to be rescheduled. Negotiations among the main parliamentary groups are crucial, as a two-thirds majority is required for the approval of candidates. This marks the second delay in the current legislative session, with previous elections initially set for early October. The CFSIRP, responsible for overseeing intelligence activities, was last elected in April 2022. The Parliament also needs to appoint representatives to various other oversight bodies.
