Parliament approves double deduction in IRS from the 3rd child

The Portuguese parliament approved an increase in IRS deductions for families with three or more children and reinforced the Guarantee for Childhood. The increase in deductions, proposed by CDS-PP, will double starting from the third child and will apply from January 1, 2028, with a transitional increase of 50% from January 1, 2027. The Guarantee for Childhood was approved with opposition votes from PSD and CDS-PP, ensuring that the amount of the supplement aligns with the increases in dependent deductions in the IRS Code.
