Argentine Parliament wants to restore limit on land sales to foreigners
The Argentine Parliament is reinstating limits on land sales to foreigners, reversing a previous decision by President Javier Milei. The Chamber of Deputies approved the restoration of the Rural Lands Law, initially enacted in 2011, amid public protests. The government announced this reversal on October 14, as opposition support grew in Congress against Milei's economic deregulation plan. The Supreme Court had previously suspended the elimination of restrictions after environmental concerns were raised. Despite favorable conditions, foreign direct investment in Argentina remains low compared to other Latin American economies. A new citizenship program for foreign investors will begin in late 2026.
