Mozambican Parliament meets to amend Budget

The Mozambican Assembly is convening in Maputo to discuss a budget amendment proposal that adds €47.4 million in gas revenues and increases expenditures. The proposal, supported by the ruling Frelimo party, aims to modify two articles of the 2026 State Budget approved last December. The government seeks to enhance public investment and address fiscal impacts from natural disasters and external shocks. Following the amendment, public spending will rise from 520.6 billion meticais to 524.2 billion meticais, representing 32.1% of GDP. Mozambique has significant gas development projects in the Rovuma basin, including TotalEnergies and ExxonMobil ventures.
