Passengers stranded in Cambodia during years-long luxury cruise due to fuel prices

The Villa Vie Odyssey cruise ship, which departed from Belfast in October 2024 for a global journey, has faced significant challenges due to rising fuel costs and operational delays. Passengers were disembarked in Cambodia, and the operator is working on temporary housing plans. Fuel prices have surged since the Iran conflict, causing costs per cabin to rise dramatically. Despite efforts to reduce fuel consumption, the company is restructuring and cannot guarantee the continuation of the voyage. The ship offers various amenities and has a long-term living program at sea, with cabin prices ranging from €3,150 per month to €396,000 for permanent stays.
