Climate passport to monitor municipal actions

ADENE launched the Climate Passport for Cities to monitor the implementation of Municipal Climate Action Plans (PMAC), enhancing visibility of local climate measures. This initiative, introduced at the National Meeting of the Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy, aims to simplify PMAC execution monitoring and promote best practices. Participation is voluntary, with a recognition system based on PMAC implementation levels: Planning, Action, and Leadership. Municipalities must submit annual simplified reports to maintain recognition, valid for three years. A digital platform will facilitate plan registration and progress tracking. ADENE's president emphasized the initiative's role in recognizing municipal efforts rather than as a monitoring tool, noting significant progress in PMAC development despite challenges in resources and funding.
