Pavel: Successful defense depends on new technologies and support from the public

President Petr Pavel emphasized the importance of rapid technological adoption for successful deterrence and defense at the Future Forces Forum in Prague. He highlighted the need for collaboration between governments and the defense industry, as well as societal preparedness for security threats. The security environment is increasingly complex, with over sixty global conflicts and the ongoing war in Ukraine causing significant suffering and economic damage. Pavel noted that effective defense requires public support and resilience against current and future threats. Vice Prime Minister Karel Havlíček stressed the necessity of investing in various security aspects beyond military spending, including energy and cyber security. He advocated for a strong private sector to support defense funding and called for broader collaboration within the defense industry, involving smaller companies and academic institutions.
