PCP accuses Government of cutting health and housing
Paulo Raimundo, the PCP Secretary-General, criticized the 2027 State Budget for worsening health and housing issues, claiming it furthers the dismantling of the National Health Service (SNS). He highlighted a 7% cut in health investment and the allocation of half of SNS resources to the private sector. Raimundo also condemned the reduction in public housing funding, advocating for 1% of GDP to be dedicated to housing. He argued that the proposed rental law favors real estate speculation and does not address housing problems. Additionally, he condemned police actions during housing protests and held the government responsible for social tensions, asserting that the budget reflects a continuation of ineffective policies that fail to meet the population's needs.
