PCP warns Montenegro that it will not be able to limit the right to protest

Paulo Raimundo, the PCP secretary-general, criticized the Montenegrin government's attempt to limit the right to protest, labeling recent police actions in Portugal as violent and arrogant. He emphasized that the government's failure to address housing issues is central to public discontent. Raimundo pointed out that the housing crisis is exacerbated by stagnant wages and criticized the government's approach to legislation regarding evictions and rent increases. He condemned the police's violent dispersal of protests in Lisbon and Porto, which resulted in injuries and arrests. Protesters demand changes to housing laws and increased public housing availability.
