PCP says that the Government will not limit the right to protest
Paulo Raimundo, the PCP's secretary-general, criticized the Montenegrin government's intention to limit the right to protest, labeling recent police actions in Portugal as violent and arrogant. He emphasized that the housing crisis is a central issue, exacerbated by rising living costs and stagnant wages. Raimundo condemned the government's approach to housing, which he claims worsens legislation and suppresses protests. He stated that the PCP will continue to challenge these policies in the Assembly of the Republic, particularly during the upcoming budget discussions. Recent protests in Lisbon and Porto resulted in police intervention, injuries, and arrests, as demonstrators demanded housing rights and reforms.
