PCP wants to revoke the "Cristas law" but the focus is on leasing
The PCP's secretary-general announced plans to propose the repeal of the "Cristas law" and other previously rejected measures, prioritizing the halt of the government's new rental law. Paulo Raimundo criticized the proposed changes to the Urban Lease Regime, labeling it as a continuation of the problematic "Cristas law" from 2012. He emphasized the urgency of preventing the approval of the current rental law, stating that revoking the "Cristas law" would be meaningless if the new law passes. The PCP will continue to push for measures to lower rents and ensure contract stability, while also expressing support for recent housing protests in Porto and Lisbon.
